Crocheted Baby Booties

If you're an avid fan of crocheting, you may already know how simple it can be to create crocheted baby booties. In fact, if you've never picked up yarn or a crochet hook in your life, you may be surprised to find out exactly how easy it is to crochet some baby booties. Many people hear the word "crochet" and automatically picture something their grandmother made in shades of green, brown and orange that matched absolutely nothing in the house, but was accepted graciously as a gift regardless.

Now however, so many new and eye-catching patterns have been brought about that you can make things you never thought possible with just one easy-to-use hook and a few skeins of yarn, and of course that includes crocheted baby booties.

As far as the various methods of stitching are concerned, if you find yourself on the less coordinated end of the spectrum, you may want to consider crocheting over knitting as it involves only one instrument versus trying to maneuver two at once. Do a little research into what projects you might like to start first and enlighten yourself on the various stitches involved in crocheting baby booties (you'll be shocked at how similar they all are). If you find you are ready to make that adorable pair of baby booties you saw, but think they are a bit intimidating, try finding a pattern that doesn't make things too complicated.

Crocheted Baby Booties

You can easily find free crocheted baby booties patterns at any craft store or even on the internet for everything from blankets and hats to scarves and various items of adult, child and baby clothing. These patterns will tell you all you need to know about what type of yarn to use, what size hook to use and how to check things such as the gauge of your own stitching to ensure that everything comes out the size that is depicted in the pattern. You will find that even the crocheted baby booties will come in various sizes to accommodate tiny growing feet.

If you're still dead set on crocheting that pair of booties in a pale pink or blue shade for your little one, you will generally want to use a soft baby yarn in order to make them. Other yarns tend to be quite scratchy and less comfortable on a baby's delicate feet. While this softer yarn can be a bit more difficult to work with than a worsted-weight yarn, it will provide the best results and will just require a bit more effort and concentration.

In my perusing of free patterns, I found that the most common stitch involved in crocheted baby booties is either a half double crochet or double crochet and that the patterns will generally fit a baby whose foot is anywhere from three inches to four inches long. Four inches is pretty long for a baby foot, so those patterns could possibly fit even up to a year old, while the smaller ones are going to be for newborn up to about six months.

Just remember to search carefully and find detailed instructions on how to perform each of the crochet stitches you'll need and you will find yourself with a beautiful pair of crocheted baby booties as an end result.
